On The DAY OF THE RACE
- All participants must be registered members in Scouting or Guiding.
- Youth / Teams are the responsibility of their group Advisors, and as such must have Advisors somewhere in the city and able to respond to a phone call requesting assistance from any of their youth involved in the event.
- You are a TEAM. No one left behind, no one leaves, no breaking the team up for any reason.
- If you get lost or separated you must follow the “Lost or Separated” procedure below.
- Everyone must have their Advisor’s cell numbers in their phone.
- Everyone must have ID on them.
- Everyone must have a printed copy of this document with them. Printable PDF's will be provided to registered teams.
- Ideally the youth do this without Advisors accompanying them. However, it is understood that in some cases as with a team made up of younger Vents, this might not be an accessible event without adults present. Please talk to us about this. In the spirit of Scouting, and of fun, we want this to be as much as possible..... YOUTH LED !!!
- Rovers are welcome to make teams too....
LOST OR SEPARATED
- If your team gets separated on the Subway. At the next stop, go up to street level and make phone contact with each other. Make arrangements to meet back at a specific location. Do not wander off WITHOUT MAKING CONTACT WITH YOUR TEAM
- If your team gets separated anywhere else. STOP – make phone contact and arrange a meeting place. You have all the tools you need for communication and route finding.
- If everything goes wrong, or you are unable to make contact with each other, call one of YOUR Advisors.
- IF THINGS GO EPICALLY WRONG There is a vehicle with event Advisors circulating in the downtown area. We can come and assist.
- If you are separated or lost, and for some reason you have lost use of your phone, find a coffee shop or store and ask to use their phone. Tell them you are from out of town, got separated from your friends and need to make a phone call.
- Registered teams will receive copies of event phone numbers and contacts for the day of the event.
